Sharp Write Ups Of Some Cinematic Productions
We have some films reviewed in the following paragraphs. In this paragraph I will give you some search terms to reach movie down load sites. Film download searches will include “Unlimited DVD Rental”, “Music Videos To Download”, and “Online DVD Rentals”.
Patty Hearst: A dramatization of the newspaper heiress’s abduction and succeeding brainwashing by the Symbionese Liberation Army. The movie never recovers from a painful first half hour that tries to express, from Hearst?s point of view, the effects of the mental suffering she is put through. Cast includes Natasha Richardson, William Forsythe, Ving Rhames, Dana Delany, Frances Fisher, Jodi Long, and Olivia Barash. (108 minutes,’88)
The League of Gentlemen: An ex-army colonel enlists the help of prior officers (through blackmail) to pull off a large bank heist. High-style British humor makes this story of crime a pleasure. Cast includes Jack Hawkins, Nigel Patrick, Roger Livesey, Richard Attenborough, Bryan Forbes, Kieron Moore, Robert Coote, and Nanette Newman. (114 minutes,’60)
A Face in the Rain: The movie is a tense melodrama with Calhoun as a U.S. espionage agent being concealed in Italy by a local anti-Nazi who?s the mistress of a German officer. This is a WW2 drama. Cast includes Rory Calhoun, Marina Berti, Niall MacGinnis, and Massimo Giuliani. (91 minutes,’63)
Mr. Ricco: Martin in an eccentric role as a lawbreaking lawyer engaged with racist killings, sex and various brutalities, although he looks too exhausted to care. The film has an excellent puzzling angle to the plot. Cast includes Dean Martin, Eugene Rocbe, Thalmus Rasulala, Geraldine Brooks, Denise Nicholas, Cindy Williams, and Philip Michael Thomas. (98 minutes,’75)
Laws of Gravity: An extreme, lucid journal of 3 significant nights in the lives of a set of youthful blue-collar Brooklyn robbers and their lady friends. Shot on a minuscule amount of money, and differentiated by abrasive, Scorsese like reality. The acting is superb and Jean de Segonzac’s hand-clutched camcorder is a definite plus. Cast includes Peter Greene, Adam Trese, Edie Falco, Arabella Territory, and Paul Schulzie. (100 minutes,’91)
La Petit Lili: A family’s country house is charged with sentiment while the hotheaded child, a yearning film maker actor, finds that his lady friend is captivated with his mom’s boyfriend, a triumphant head of mainstream films. Brilliant film empowered by Chekhov’s The Seagull, investigating the line between art and life, and how the 2 influence each other. Cast includes Nicole Garcia, Bernard Giraudeau, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Ludivine Sagnier, Robinson Steveniu, Julie Depardieu, Yves Jacques, and Michel Piccoli. (104 minutes, 2003)
The Last Time I Saw Archie: Webb’s lone try at comedy has less laughs than some of his more serious films; a shame, since William Bowers’ script-based on his own Army experiences had genuine potential, and Mitchum pleasantly underplays his role as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes,’61)
Track of the Cat: Tennessee Williams meets American mid-evil in this unusually abrasive drama in regards to a home filled with bitterness, remorse, and envy, and how the search for a killer cougar changes the dynamics of the family. Cast includes Teresa Wright, Tab Hunter, Diana Lynn, Beulah Bondi, Philip Tonge, William Basket, and Carl (Alfalfa) Switzer. (102 minutes,’54)
Horror Express: A crackerjack terror film ingeniously orchestrated and well performed by the genre’s megastars. This turn of the century chiller has a long iced up beast coming to life when being moved from Asia to the West. Lee and Cushing are adversary anthropologists aboard the train and Savalas is a power crazed Cossack officer. Cast includes Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Telly Savalas, Silvia Tortosa, and Jorge Rigaud. (88 minutes,’72)
